Giant Object d’art Appears on Walls in Underground Passage of Koltsovo Airport

Street artists painted an illustration with the area over 400 square meters on walls of an underground passage located on the landside of the Koltsovo Airport within the framework of the Stenograffia Street Art and Graffiti Festival, which was held in Ekaterinburg this summer for the ninth time already. A long story, whose author is Taisiya Spirina, reflects all the magic in the process of making a drawing in the street space, which became an integral part of the city for Ekaterinburg residents long time ago.

According to the plot, painted artists color the gray city landscape but heroes use color of a certain time of the day poured into cans instead of a conventional paint. As a result, traces painted by dawn, daybreak, purple sunset, dusk or starry light appear on the scene.
The Koltsovo International Airport (member of the Airports of Regions Holding) is the largest regional transportation and logistical center. Millions of passengers used the air gate of Ekaterinburg for domestic and international flights.

“Ekaterinburg is known for the street art because an interesting object d’art can be actually found here after almost every turn. However, they are located mostly downtown. One of central features of the Ural capital can now be seen in the airport. A highly successful object appears here – a group of characters - painters color the daily grind. This is not merely about Ekaterinburg but largely about our team, which is filling the gray city landscape with colors for nearly 10 years already - the street art can be seen without departing far from airport limits,” head of Stenograffia festival Konstantin Rakhmanov notes.

“The Stenograffia festival is a milestone event for Ekaterinburg. The street art turns into an organic part of the cultural image of the city owing to it. “We believe it is important for the airport to participate in such project as for an integral element of life in a modern metropolitan city,” notes Evgeni Krasikov, Strategic Communications Director of the Airports of Regions Holding. “The new object d’art will be a particular gift of the airport for city residents and guests and not merely a decoration of the landside,” he says.

You can find more detailed information about Stenograffia on the website of the festival and on official pages of Stenograffia in social networks.
