Domestic passenger traffic grew by 16% and totaled 4.026 million people. Traffic to international destinations amounted to 2.077 million people. This is 8% above the figure of the prior period.
70 air carriers in total made flights from the Ekaterinburg airport last year. The geography of flights comprised 110 scheduled and charter passenger destinations in 2018. Moscow, Antalya, St. Petersburg, Sochi and Novosibirsk made up the top five popular routes.
Domestic regional destinations acted as the key growth driver last year. Passenger traffic on flights to Russian cities (except the capital) rose by 22% and was over 1.893 million passengers. Rostov-on-Don (more than 3 times), Krasnodar (almost 3-fold growth), and Blagoveschensk (nearly 2 times) became leaders in terms of regional traffic volume increment.
The transfer passenger traffic of Koltsovo was over 420 thousand people in 2018, up 28% against the figure in 2017.. The transfer passenger traffic was largely generated on account of the program for domestic carriage of passengers from eastern regions to capital cities and southern regions and by travels from Asian countries to the largest European centers.
