Koltsovo international airport (affiliated with the Airports of Regions holding) took part in the largest tourism and traveling exposition Beijing International Tourism Expo (BITE) held in Beijing on 18-20 June.
Koltsovo airport joined hands with the Tourism Center of Sverdlovsk Region and RuTravel to present the Urals region to Chinese tourists at the Russian booth of BITE. For instance, presentation of a tourist site about Yekaterinburg in Chinese (www.yekameili.cn) was part of the exposition. Using colorful photos and videos, the site promotes major places of interest in the Urals megacity and beyond as well as hotels to stay, malls to shop and eateries to dine.
Yekaterinburg has long been fueling close collaboration with China by warm mutual visits. Flights to Beijing, Harbin, Ordos and Sanyu depart from Koltsovo, most popular destinations being Beijing (5 flights a week) and Harbin (2 flights a week). Overall more than 106,000 passengers were serviced on Chinese flights in 2018.
China makes a considerable contribution to the development of transfer and transit traffic in Koltsovo. Travelers from Beijing and Harbin opt for Yekaterinburg as a connection hub whence they fly to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Prague, Paris and Rome.
Beijing International Tourism Expo has been held since 2004 by China National Convention Center. Participating in this tradeshow are over 1,000 companies from 46 countries and its annual attendance approaches 45,000 visitors, including tourism industry professionals.
