Koltsovo international airport (managed by Airports of Regions MC) has reviewed its performance for 2020. Services were provided for 3m550thou passengers last year, down 44% year-on-year. During the past year 21,747 sorties were operated fr om Koltsovo, the TOP-5 most popular destinations being Moscow, Sochi, Saint-Petersburg, Simferopol and Krasnodar.
The COVID-19 pandemic entered considerable adjustments to the operations of the Urals leading air hub. The international sector saw the deepest dive (-84%) in the traffic because international air travels were closed starting on March 2020. Overall 332,800 flyers to international destinations received the airport’s services.
In 2020 domestic flights ensured 91% of the traffic at the Yekaterinburg airport wh ere 3m217thou travelers were serviced (down 25% year-on-year), southern routes being responsible for a quarter of the entire inland traffic. Last year 859,200 people received the airport’s services on the flights bound for Sochi, Simferopol, Krasnodar, Anapa and Gelendzhik, which is comparable to the figures for 2019. Regional routes bypassing Moscow accounted for more than 55% of the airport’s traffic.
