The Koltsovo International Airport (member of the Airports of Regions Holding) joined ranks of ten best airports of the globe with the passenger traffic from 5 to 10 million passengers per year in World Airport Awards from the reputed industry agency Skytrax (United Kingdom). Among the best in this group are airports of such cities as Durban (South Africa), Cincinnati (USA), Adelaide and Gold Coast (both Australia), Christchurch (New Zealand), Medina (Saudi Arabia), Keflavik (Iceland), and of the Republic of Malta and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The World Airport Awards is also called the Passenger’s Choice Awards because they are presented according to results of passengers’ responses. Over 14 million people from more than 550 airports worldwide took place in the poll this year. Polling took place from August 2017 to February 2018. Passengers rated airports by 39 criteria, with transport access to airport, convenience of check-in, inspection, etc., among them.
The Koltsovo Airport is in the top ten airports of the globe for the second year in a row. The air harbor of Ekaterinburg was among top ten airports with the passenger traffic up to 5 million people last year. Three airports of the Airports of Regions Holding - Koltsovo, Kurumoch (Samara) and Platov (Rostov-on-Don) made their way at once into the top ten airports of Russia and CIS.
Strengthening its positions in World Airport Awards year after year, the Ekaterinburg Airport confirms the high score of Skytrax experts, who conferred four out of five possible starts to the airport in March 2015.
