The new 358.6-sqm checkpoint is installed between the passenger and freight terminals of Koltsovo. In keeping with security requirements it is equipped with turnpikes, gates, entry-resistant barriers and other technologies making the screening procedure as closed as possible. A special identification system at the entrance sees all information about the driver and transportation vehicle while large scaffolding enables to screen motor transport from every conceivable angle. This also makes the screening of heavy-duty trucks a lot faster.
The new checkpoint’s throughput capacity has doubled due to the separation of incoming and outgoing motor transport flows as well as due to a higher number of screening zones for those entering the airport territory as well as the use of state-of-the-art introscopes.
The checkpoint houses an access control office for personnel with a queuing system and a comfortable lobby. The access control office is equipped with requisite amenities for low mobility citizens.
Building a new checkpoint is not the end of infrastructure upgrade at Koltsovo airport. Already this autumn the works of renovating the passenger terminal will get started along with construction on a new depot for specialized vehicles.
