For the first time, Koltsovo International Airport (managed by Airports of Regions MC) opens regular flights to the city of Abakan. The first flight to the capital of Khakassia was made last night by Red Wings Airlines using the Sukhoi Superjet 100. The flight was launched as part of the subsidy programme for regional flights, in accordance with the Russian Government Resolution № 1242.
From now on, flights to Abakan will be operated twice a week, Wednesdays and Fridays, departing from Koltsovo at 01:55. The arrival in Khakassia is due at 06:50 local time. The flight duration is 2h 55min.
Abakan offers great opportunities for domestic tourism. History lovers can visit the Khakassia Museum of Local History, boasting a unique collection of archaeological artefacts, or take part in exotic shamanic rites. Those who prefer a quiet holiday will enjoy a large number of salt lakes and freshwater lakes with sanatoria built on their shores. The water of the Tus, Bele, Shira and Shunet lakes has healing properties, which is why the region is sometimes called the “Siberian Switzerland”.
