Koltsovo international airport (affiliated with the Airports of Regions holding) has taken part in The Night of Museums 2019, organized by the city. Specifically for this event edutainment programmes were prepared by the air hub both for kids and adults. Overall more than 350 people took part in The Night of Museums.
Five tours were organized for children within The Night of Museums programme where boys and girls were told about the background of Koltsovo as well as shown the operation of its services hidden fr om the passenger’s eyes. A special guided tour involved familiarization with four-legged employees of the air hub and the specifics of Koltsovo’s canine unit. The arrival of Tigercraft Boeing 747 operated by Russia Airlines, clad in a special tiger livery, was a special gift for kids.
Quests in the evening programme were a major distinction of The Night of Museums 2019 in Koltsovo. This was the first time quests were conducted within the airport’s walls. The quest participants were to walk in the footsteps of a passenger departing from the air hub, making a number of assignments – e.g. finding a girl who lost her hairpin in one of the terminals, packing a suitcase chugalug, tuning in the frequency of “dispatchers” to hear information about the flight departure. A high point of the programme was meeting a pilot on the sky deck of Angelo Hotel wh ere the guests were treated to a breathtaking view of the runway and near-airport square.
The Night of Museums is not the only citywide project held at Koltsovo airport which is an integral part of Yekaterinburg’s integrated cultural space, taking part in many remarkable events like the Urals Industrial Modern Art Biennale, The Night of Museums, StenograFFy Festival. In 2018 Koltsovo became the air gate of the Ural Music Night Festival.
