The airfield service of Koltsovo international airport (part of the Airports of Regions holding) has reviewed the operational results for the autumn-winter season 2018-2019.
Snow-removal vehicles started cleaning the airfield on 29 October 2018. The total area of cleaned paved runways neared 1,227,806 sq. m versus 826,596 sq. m during a similar period of the previous year.
Overall around 77,357 cu. m of snow was removed from the airport’s apron, which is 31,922 cu. m more in comparison with the previous season. The change in removed snow bulk was caused by larger paved surfaces to clean, despite less intensive snowfalls in the Urals during the past season. The airfield service spent 97.10 tonnes of deicer.
Twenty special vehicles ensured the airfield serviceability, snow removal and deicing, including plow brushers, rotors, motor graders, loaders, tractors.
The airfield infrastructure cleaning is a 24/7 effort at Koltsovo. With first snowfall signs the custom vehicles switch to a “patrol” cleaning regime, keeping up the cleanness of the runway, taxiways, apron and ramps any time of the day.
