Koltsovo international airport (part of the Airports of Regions holding) became a winner of the national aviation industry’s Wings of Russia Awards. The jury of experts named the Yekaterinburg airport the best in the Airport of the Year category (group 2, with the annual traffic ranging from 2 to 15 million passengers). The awarding event was held in Moscow, with ten air hubs claiming the best airport title in this nomination.
The National E.E. Chibirev Wings of Russia Aviation Industry Awards has been presented annually since 1997. It was instituted by the Russian Association of Air Transport Operators, Air Transport Review magazine and Infomost consultancy. The panelists represent the professional community and specialized media. This is one of the most prestigious industry-related awards in Russia.
In 2019 Koltsovo has already won other prestigious awards. Thus in February Koltsovo’s freight terminal was named the best in Russia within the national Air Gate of Russia Awards, while in March the Yekaterinburg air hub was named the best regional airport of Russia and CIS according to the international World Airport Award.
