A new subsidised flight to Magnitogorsk has opened from Koltsovo International Airport (managed by Airports of Regions MC). On the 8th of June the Red Wings Airlines started operating flights to the second largest city of Chelyabinsk Region. The flight was launched as part of the regional air service subsidy program and is co-financed by the governments of Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions.
Flights to Magnitogorsk will be performed thrice a week by Sukhoi Superjet 100 taking up to 100 passengers on board. The flight will depart from Koltsovo at 06:40 local time on Saturdays and at 07:35 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Return flights are scheduled for 16:55 local time. Morning and evening flights will be convenient for those who are going on a one-day business trip. The flight duration will be 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Overall subsidised flights on 22 routes have been scheduled for 2021, as per Russian Government Resolution No. 1242. In January-May of 2021 Red Wings, Yamal, RusLine and Azimut Airlines performed flights on 20 routes. Passenger traffic on these routes exceeded 162,000 people during the five months of this year. Due to active involvement of the regional authorities, Sverdlovsk Region holds a leading position in the country by the number of subsidised flights.
