A new exposition has been opened at Koltsovo international airport (part of the Airports of Regions holding). On display in the terminal of domestic airlines is a FordModel A automobile made in 1929. It is not only one of the pioneer mass-market cars in the world, but also a witness to the era of civil aviation evolvement and a contemporary to one of the first commercially successful passenger planes.
In 1926-1927 American Industry tycoon Henry Ford presented two novelties to the world: “people’s” auto FordModel A that came to replace the obsolete trailblazer Model T as well as the passenger plane FordTrimotor. The plane was noted for branded qualities of Ford products: structural simplicity and reliability, low maintenance bills, cost-effectiveness. From 1926 to 1933 they manufactured 199 FordTrimotor planes that were added to the fleets of all major US carriers. The prestige of Henry Ford boosted the growth of air transportation services as potential investors turned their eyes to this sphere.
The exposition in Koltsovo is a joint project with the Museum of Automotive Engineering.
