The Eurowings Airlines has launched flights from Koltsovo International Airport (operated by Airports of Regions MC) over the Düsseldorf-Ekaterinburg-Düsseldorf route. The day before, 3 July 2021, the flight was inaugurated in Koltsovo. The ceremony was attended by Minister of International and External Economic Relations for Sverdlovsk Region Mr. Vasily Kozlov, Consul General of Germany in Ekaterinburg Mr. Mathias Kruse, General Sales Manager of Lufthansa Group for Russia and Central Asia Mr. Dirk Grossmann, and Chief Executive Officer of Koltsovo Airport Mr. Aleksandr Pastukhov.
“We have a longstanding partnership with the Lufthansa Group. Our colleagues are well aware of the high standards maintained by Koltsovo Airport. We appreciate that at such a difficult time for civil aviation, Eurowings has decided to open a regular flight from Russia to Europe. For our part, we will do our best to make the Airlines’ flights as efficient as possible,” said Mr. Pastukhov.
“Eurowings is the youngest company in our Group, but it is growing and looking for new destinations. We have always seen great potential in Sverdlovsk Region and Ekaterinburg; we believe in this market and know that now is the best time to launch a new project here. Koltsovo passengers will be able to fly directly to the Eurowings hub in Düsseldorf. Our first priority is to optimise connections in order to offer convenient services across Europe,” commented Mr. Grossmann.
Regular flights on the route are scheduled for Saturdays by Airbus A320. The departure from Dusseldorf is at 11:05 and the arrival in Ekaterinburg is due at 18:50. The flight departs from Koltsovo at 19:50 and arrives in Dusseldorf at 21:55.
