Koltsovo airport (part of the Airports of Regions holding) has set to operating an automatic enquiry system for passengers using speech recognition technologies. The system recognizes a subscriber’s voice question, asking clarifying questions if need be, and providing an answer.
The enquiry system searches the information display with the daily traffic of flights for answers as well as the data of the airport’s seasonal timetable. For instance, a request may sound as “today’s flights to Moscow”. In this case the system will further inquire about the airport and desired departure time before sounding available options. To request information about the flight status it’s enough to mention its number. The system will automatically inform on the name of the airlines operating this flight, the expected time of departure, numbers of check-in counters, and will update the inquirer on whether the check-in and boarding have been completed. If a traveler’s question has nothing to do with the timetable or status of the current flights, the system will inquire into the essence of request and switch the inquirer to a call operator.
Introducing an automatic enquiry service will cut the time of getting requisite information by the subscriber, since the toll on call-centre operators will be reduced. In the future, the plan calls for widening the list of subjects available for automatic enquiry by airport passengers.
The project of automatic enquiry service has been realized together with Aviation Communication Technologies, LLC, providing enquiry and information services to flyers and customers of Koltsovo airport.
