The Koltsovo International Airport (member of the Airports of Regions Holding) serviced 5.404 million passengers last year, which is 26% above the figure in 2016. This is the all-time high indicator in the modern history of the air harbor of Ekaterinburg.
International traffic became the main growth driver. 1.919 million persons took advantage of international flights from Koltsovo last year. This is 67% above the figure of the prior period. Domestic traffic surged 11% and totaled 3.485 million people.
67 air carriers in total made flights from the Ekaterinburg airport last year. The geography of flights comprised 111 passenger destinations in 2017. Moscow, Antalya, St. Petersburg, Sochi and Novosibirsk made up the top five popular routes.
Antalya has become an undoubted leader on international lines. Carriage to this popular Mediterranean resort amounted to 533 thousand passengers, setting the record for the Ekaterinburg Airport. Other popular overseas destinations also demonstrated material growth – Dubai, Prague, Sanya, Krabi, Tel Aviv, Astana and Tbilisi added more than 60%. Traffic to Nha Trang, Paris and Podgorica rose by a third and more. New international flight destinations - Bodrum, Dalaman, Pardubice, U-Tapao, Phu Quoc and Sharjah - have enjoyed demand among Koltsovo passengers.
The transfer passenger traffic of Koltsovo increased steadily in 2017. Over 360 thousand passengers took advantage of flights with the connection in the Urals capital over the year. This figure rose by a quarter against the year of 2016. The transfer passenger traffic in the Koltsovo Airport was mainly generated on account of the program for domestic carriage of passengers and travels from Asian countries to the largest European centers.
The Ekaterinburg airport handled 24,487 tonnes of freight and mail last year. This figure remains at the last-year level. Mail transportation rose by 16% to 5,205 tonnes at the same time. Moscow, Harbin and St. Petersburg became main destinations of goods delivery in the past year.
